About Me

Who is KT, anyway?

Hi there recruiter, colleague or curious internet adventurer! My name is Katie.

KT's Dad wearing a Deadpool Mask
My dad, who inspired my interest in computing at a very early age.

I'm a highly-achieving student who is passionate about computing and its potential to create positive change for businesses, individuals and wider society. I'm constantly seeking opportunities to learn and grow in this dynamic field - if I do not currently have the skills you're looking for, I'll make sure that's fixed before very long! I take it as a personal challenge.

In my spare time, I'm modifying videogames I like to play (Minecraft, Baldur's Gate, The Sims Series), I'm jotting down my thoughts on the ethical use-cases for AI, or I'm cracking open my keyboard to desolder its switches and lube its stabilizers. You might also catch me sinking far too many hours into FPS games (Overwatch 2, VALORANT, CS:GO).

I especially love to attempt to annoy my two pet cats (I mean, my assistants), and I love to boot custom firmware onto gaming consoles (NSW, Wii, NDS, DSi, 3DS).

I spent the majority of my teenage years building and installing PC hardware units and locating and reverse-engineering exploits in Nintendo and Microsoft hardware. In my time at uni, I have been representing my peers through my UUSU Course Representative role, or my Rewriting the Code membership.

If you're looking for a candidate who has a deep love for professional growth, a deep personal love for what they do, can perform under pressure and adapt to change quickly (all with Spotify cranked to 100% volume!), think of me - Think KT.

Projects

A showcase of my hands-on experience across UI/UX design, web development, hardware, and databases.

Product Design

Designed a wearable health tech product in a group of six. Conducted SWOT & PESTLE analyses, prototyping, branding, and mock-up visuals. Co-ordinated video pitch for stakeholders to green-light production. Functioned as project lead throughout the process, delegating tasks and leading regular meetings to ensure a unified vision and purpose in the team as the project progressed.

Web Development

Collaboratively designed a prototype commercial webpage for a hypothetical hotel brand. Responsible for UI design, wireframing, visual identity, testing, debugging, image optimisation, version control, documentation, and team coordination.

Graphic Design

Created client-requested designs for a school house system. Prototyped concepts with client feedback, produced 12 audience-appropriate deliverables, and finalised with a professional printing company for production and eventual educational use aimed at primary school-aged children.

Hardware Modification

Ran an independent hardware troubleshooting and repair service throughout secondary school. Re-seating RAM and CPU, resetting CMOS, thermal repasting components, swapping components, replacement and transfer of NVME, SSH, HDD components, repair and modification of peripherals also (mechanical keyboards, gaming mice).

Databases

Designed an SQL database with relational schema, entity relationships, and cardinality ratios. Implemented the design as a functional database using Microsoft SQL Server 2017, intended for a mechanic store's business needs, and implemented basic Jupyter Notebook queries to interact with the data.

Adobe Suite

Utilised Adobe Creative Suite to design and produce high-quality livery designs, intended for use on a complex 3D model of a Mercedes GT3 Evo. The project involved extensive research, prototyping, and prioritisation of stakeholders' requirements to ensure the final design met all requirements. Footage of the livery design was taken and edited into a promotional trailer for a charity event.
